Open Heart = Gwinnett

Check out the link below for their OFFICIAL BLACK EYED PEAS VIDEO the Open Heart Campaign created!

Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support, GMC has secured approval to launch its open heart program in Gwinnett County. Now the real work has begun!

A dedicated 40,000 square foot facility is in development. This $33 million investment will ensure that the people of our community have access to a complete range of cardiac services. When it opens in early 2012, the Heart and Vascular Center at Gwinnett Medical Center–Lawrenceville will be state-of-the-art. While the advanced technologies are impressive, they won’t be what make the Center truly special. It will be the devoted professionals and their world-class capabilities that make the difference.

You, too, can help make a difference. We are approaching our goal of $8 million in charitable giving to directly support the development of the program, but there is still a ways to go. With your help, we’ll reach that goal.

Green In Gwinnett Tips
Doggie Dooty

Responsible dog owners are often confronted with the question of how to clean up the waste those morning walks tend to produce. An eco-friendly alternative is to use a page from yesterday’s newspaper. If that isn’t an option for you, buy biodegradable pet waste bags or reuse a plastic bag you have on hand.

The GreenHall Meeting: Turning Carbon into Gold – Deriving Profits from Carbon

Like it or not, the US is moving toward carbon trading. Producing too much carbon is a liability, under-producing  is an asset. Attend this session and ask all the questions you have about carbon cap and trade, emissions, and carbon as a profit center. The GreenHall Meeting will address issues, opportunities and challenges companies and governments will face with pending legislation.

John Wells, President and CEO of Interface Americas, to deliver opening Keynote address

John WellsInterface has long been acknowledged as a leader in sustainability with their visionary chairman, Ray Anderson, taking an early leadership role in environmental stewardship. “So Right, So Smart”, the wonderful Interface documentary, became Ray’s mantra and John, President and Chief Executive Officer of Interface Americas, is instrumental in making the business of sustainability a profitable platform for Interface’s numerous business units. John has put in place programs and metrics to help Interface companies achieve their sustainability mission and goals in three parts – financial, environmental and social.

“Doing well by doing good” – a term that refers to doing financially well by doing what’s right by the environment – has long been an Interface strategy. John will share how a business strategy on an environmental platform doesn’t take from the bottom line but adds to it. In these economic times, now more than ever, companies need to heed and incorporate these lessons learned.

Green In Gwinnett Area and Oil Advertisements…

April 7, 2009

logo1

We live in Gwinnett County.  Many of us drive downtown to Atlanta for work.  We rely on the oil companies for our fuel. We also watch and listen to advertisements from Exxon, BP, Shell, and other about how they are investing hundreds of billions of dollars into renewable energies.  Is that true?

The Obama administration wants to reduce oil consumption, increase renewable energy supplies and cut carbon dioxide emissions in the most ambitious transformation of energy policy in a generation.

But the world’s oil giants are not convinced that it will work. Even as Washington goes into a frenzy over energy, many of the oil companies are staying on the sidelines, balking at investing in new technologies favored by the president, or even straying from commitments they had already made.
